What you give it

A WhatsApp chat export in .txt format, normally created with the “Export chat” feature and “Without media” selected. Unpack My Chat does not ask for your WhatsApp password or read chats directly from your account.

What happens to the chat

The file is read by JavaScript inside the browser and passed to a local Web Worker for parsing and calculations. The raw conversation is not sent to a Unpack My Chat server for analysis.

What the result means

The report describes observable patterns in the export. It can show that one participant started more conversations or had a shorter average reply gap; it cannot prove why. It can identify matching words or phrases; it cannot reliably infer intention from them.
